Story Time: Three
years ago I was hospitalized with pneumonia. Upon my release, I was not
permitted to return to work for two weeks. Bills were piling up. Out of the
blue, a good friend mailed a check to me. When I tried to repay him, he
refused. He told me that in his early years a man once helped him and also
refused to be repaid. Instead, he was told to help someone in the future and
pass on the money and goodwill.
My friend told me I had shaken "the never ending helpful hand"
and asked I do the same as he had just done.
Last year, the opportunity to help someone in a tight spot arose. I did exactly
what my friend had asked.
I also refused to be repaid. Instead, I told the story, and asked that
person do the exact same thing.
Like those before me, I've shaken the "Never Ending Helpful Hand" both
coming and going.
Sometimes I wonder how far it's come and how far it will go.
The Moral? Not much I guess, just that helping people feels great!
